COMPUTING FOR BUSINESS

Focus your mind on how to provide computing solutions to the problems of business. Computing for Business concentrates on the design, construction and application of computing systems to meet the requirements of business organizations.

Application areas range from computing for accounting and financial management to the use of advanced techniques for strategic decision making. Student will extend their knowledge beyond the traditional business use of IT and be fully up-to-speed with new developments with the Internet, e-business and distributed computing, and multimedia systems. Without a doubt these are areas already important and increasingly vital in business for the future. This is not a program for end-users of IT. Rather, it will provide student with the ability to analyze problems arising in business, to identify, and then design, implement, install, evaluate and maintain appropriate computing solutions.

Program Outline
The program has two main study themes: the methods of computing; and how businesses operate and exploit computing effectively. The core of the program is the design and construction of systems to inform management decision-making and facilitate business activity. But to study truly effective the systems have to be used with ease and confidence, so an understanding of the interaction between computing systems and people is an important aspect of program.
